I already donated and/or grew a ‘stache for Movember! Why should I do UrbaCity too?

Movember is an awesome event that raises incredible awareness and money for National Prostate research. The UrbaCity difference is that we’re all about local. We are a home-grown event, dedicated to Victoria pride. UrbaCity keeps donations local too – all funds go to our own Victoria Prostate Centre. By directing our fundraising to a Victoria charity, we know that the amount we raise will have real impact on men in our community.

What’s up with the pledges?

Each team of two in the Brain, Brawn, and Ultimate categories is required to pledge at least $100 to our cause, the Prostate Centre. That’s just $50 per person. Donate more, and you’ll qualify for some spiffy bonuses!

How hard is it?

UrbaCity is a combination of physical and mental agility. As in any events where you need to be on your feet, being in good physical condition is imperative. But no matter what race you pick, you don't have to be the fastest to compete.

How long is the challenge?

You will have four hours to complete the course. Stick around afterwards for the awards, prizes, and cheque ceremony!

What are the prizes for the UrbaCity Challenge?

We’ve got some amazing prizes planned for our winners. Stay tuned via Facebook, Twitter, or email to find out what.

Is there a cut-off time?

Yes, you must be back at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre by 2:00 pm.

Do I need to know Victoria really well in order to compete?

If you can read a street map then you can find your way around the course. But it doesn't hurt to get to know the city either!

How many people per team?

Two people per team (except for Corporate teams of four).

If we are a team, do we have to remain together on the course?

Yes. You must stay within high-five range of your teammate at all times.

What happens if myself or my teammate cannot finish the race?

Both members of a team must finish the course together to be considered in the final results. If a teammate decides they cannot go on, one may continue the race but will be out of the competition.

What happens if we can't solve a challenge station?

This is a strategic race and you can decide how to accomplish the most within the time limit.

Do I have to sign a waiver to compete?

Yes, and you will be provided this waiver on completion of registration. You cannot compete until you have filled out a waiver form.

What kind of transportation can we use?

Unless part of a challenge or previously authorized, foot travel only.

Are there mandatory gear requirements?

We'll provide you with super stylish UrbaCity Challenge t-shirts. These t-shirts must be worn at all times to identify our competitors.

Will there be first aid attendants on site?

Yes, first aid attendants will be spread throughout the competition site to ensure rapid response to any emergency situation. If an attendant is not near where you are, then please call 911.

What if I get lost?

The race is within only the city centre, and you can ask people/shop owners etc if you get lost. Volunteers will also be on route to assist with your questions and get you back on track. Your race package will also have key phone numbers if you require immediate assistance.

Can we use external help?

Teams are permitted to ask others for help, including race participants, bystanders or friends who have access to resources such as the Internet, books, maps or other reference material. If a team is lost or is otherwise in need of urgent assistance, they can contact the emergency/help phone number provided in the packages.

Can we use digital devices?

You are allowed to bring and use any technology or gadgets such as mobile phones, laptops, GPS locators or other handheld devices. Use of these devices should be for communication or informational purposes only. However, you will be given a map with all the locations, so focusing on your navigational skills, personal knowledge and skills will help you find the Challenge Station.

Is there a minimum age requirement?

Competitors must be 19 years of age on race day. BUT a teenager who is 13 years of age or older on the day of the UrbaCity Challenge may compete with a parent or legal guardian.

Will there be parking available at the start location?

There is parking on the streets and parking lots near Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, plus pay parking right at the arena. But please try and use alternative modes of transportation to limit our impact on the environment. Bus, walk, bike or carpool.

What if it rains?

The event will go regardless of weather (we're Victoria, we play in anything!). So dress accordingly!
